Crafty Cardmakers challenge 232 – Dragons or other mythical creatures

Lin is hosting today’s challenge, Dragons or other Mythical Creatures

As tomorrow is St. George’s Day in England, we would like to see your dragons aplenty, or if you don’t fancy dragons any other mythical creatures will do nicely.

As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the theme.

My card was made using a 7 x 5 card blank, onto which I matted some plain black card.

My background sheet was a Hunkydory Little Books page (Twilight Kingdom). I really like these, as they enable you to use any image you like on top – and I particularly liked the colour scheme of this one. I used a Hunkydory rainbow mirri card to back the sheet and layered them onto the black card.

For my Dragon, I chose a stamp from a set in my stash – possibly from Creative Stamping as it was an A4 set. The sentiment also came from the same set.

I fussy cut around my dragon (and his flaming breath!) and coloured them with alcohol pens. I used foam pads to attach him to the background sheet.

I stamped the sentiment onto plain white card and backed that onto the same rainbow mirri I had used for the background sheet. I then attached it to the card with a foam pad.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 230 – that special someone

That special someone

Marlene is hosting today’s challenge, That Special Someone.
As Mother’s Day is next Sunday in the UK we would love to see your Special Someone creations. We appreciate not everyone still has their Mum, so just make your creation for a very special person in your life.

As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the theme.

My card was made using a Tattered Lace die set and Charisma papers, for an ex colleague and friend who was 70. I used a 7 x 5 card base onto which I matted some blue card to match the image. Onto this I layered some backing paper from the files that came with the dies. I cut a second (plain) version of the die in white card, so that I could stamp the sentiment into the centre oval, which pops out.

The die comes with the decoupage layers and I applied them to the base layer using pinflair gel glue.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of scrap card, and trimmed to size.
