Crafty Cardmakers challenge 220 – Fairies or mythical creatures

It’s my turn to host our challenge today, Fairies or other Mythical Creatures

As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the Fairies or other Mythical Creatures theme.

My card was made for a friend’s daughter who was 5.  She loves sparkle, pink, princesses and unicorns… so all made their appearance on this card.

I used a large scalloped circle die from (I think) Tattered Lace to cut out the base of my rocker card, and then used the next size die down to cut out the base paper.  The silver frame was a Lynda Chapman die, from her doily collections and onto this I layered a square from a hunkydory stamping pad which I had trimmed to size and rounded off the corners.

I stamped the princess and unicorn onto stamping card, and coloured them in using promarkers before fussy cutting them out and layering them onto the background image using foam pads.  I went over the unicorn with a clear wink of stella pen to give it that “magical” sparkle (although it doesn’t show up so well in the photo, sadly).

I used gems from my stash around the edge of the rocker card and to highlight the stars around the moon in the background.  The silver base for the age plaque was a die from my stash, as was the plaque itself, and the numeral 5.

Good luck with the challenge – I look forward to seeing everyone’s cards!

Crafty Cardmakers challenge 219 – Lace or ribbon

Kim is hosting today’s challenge, Lace or Ribbon

As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the Lace or Ribbon theme.

My project was a hexagonal box which was made to hold a present for a 21st birthday.  I have had the template for this for ages – I can’t even remember whose template it was!  But it always comes up trumps when I need that extra special gift box.  I have contemplated scanning it into my scan n cut, but I’m not sure if that would breach copyright… so I just painstakingly draw round it and cut it out.

The box base was made out of pearlescent card, and the paper used to decorate it came from a pad I got (I think) from B&M.  The lace was from my stash, and the sentiment panels and sentiments and 21 were dies from my stash.  I used some chain to add the angel and hand made charms to the front.
