Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 210 – Birthdays

210 birthdays

Lin is hosting today’s challenge, Birthdays

As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the Birthdays theme.

I made yet another resolution to use up my stash because frankly I have Far Too Much.  For this challenge, I made my card using some hunkydory cardstock and a hunkydory whopper topper pad.

I cut the stepper card out using a die – I think it might be a tattered lace one (but I am notoriously bad at recording brands) but I might be wrong!  I took the whopper topper and stuck it in the centre of the card using double sided tape and glue, taking care not to go too high or too far to the left with it.  I used one of the ribbon strips from the sheet to go across the bottom of the oval, level with the first step, and attached a sentiment to the blank area to the right of the topper.

The steps looked empty… so I die cut some flowers and leaves from some patterned paper in my stash, and stuck them onto the steps, and onto the side of the topper underneath the sentiment.

Unfortunately, the rocker tended to tilt to the right, so I added the satin ribbon bow to counterbalance it!  The final touch was the three small gems in the bottom left part of the rocker card and the Age button on the top of the topper.  This was cut out of the scrap from the base card, and using some gold mirri for the base and the numbers, all die cut.

Good luck with the challenge – I look forward to seeing the entries!

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 209 – Water

Josephine is hosting today’s challenge, Water.
As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the Water theme.
209 water
My card is made using my favourite 6 x 6 card shape base, onto which I layered some black and then some blue card.  I stamped the sentiment in the bottom corner of the blue card.

Using white card I die cut the splash of water and raindrops, and put that onto the blue base.   I used a wink of stella clear pen to make the glittery effect in the “puddle” ripples and in the raindrops.  I stamped a frog from a heartfelt creations stamp set, and coloured him with promarkers and attached him to the top of the card using 1mm foam pads.

Lastly I used some black gems on either side of the blue base card to accent the black base, and the froggie’s eyes…
Good luck with the challenge!
