Marlene is hosting today’s Valentine themed challenge, Love & Romance
As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the Love & Romance theme. We are also having a DT call, as one of our members has sadly left, for personal reasons. If you would like to join us, please put DT in the linky…

Every year my friend asks me to make a card for her husband for Valentines Day, and every year I struggle because it is a card to a man. It’s so much easier to make a card for the ladies (as in everything else, really!)
This year I was doing my usual trawl through pinterest for inspiration, with no real luck. Then by chance, I dropped a folder with some of my dies in it and while sorting them out to put them back I found this large heart. It’s amazing what triggers inspiration!
For my card, I used a white 6 x 6 base card. I made a black topper slightly smaller than 6 x 6 with the die cut heart aperture in the centre. I used some backing paper from a Debbi Moore CD to be the backing behind the aperture. I stamped the words I and YOU on the topper (I in white on the black and YOU in black on the backing). I thought it looked a bit plain, so I used a white gel pen to put some perforation dots around the edge, and put a black gem in each corner. I stuck the topper onto the base card using foam pads, and then using craft artist professional, I made the sentiment. This was cut out and stuck onto cardstock and then cut out again, keeping the distance around 1 -2 mm. The last job was to stick the sentiment onto the card using foam pads.
