Crafty Cardmakers challenge 204 – Get Inky/Messy

Chanya is hosting today’s challenge, Get Inky/Messy. This can also include messy paint items, or sprays etc.

As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the Get Inky/Messy theme.
get messy or inky

I have made a card this time round, using the new Ranger Distress Oxide inks.  I debated whether to buy the pads or just the inks, and in the end decided on the inks…

They will go a long way – you only need a couple of drops to get a decent blend going.  I used a glass mat and a blending tool..

My card is a 7 x 5 white base card, and I layered that with a black mat underneath the topper.  My background was done on a piece of pearlescent card – it really adds to the bling of the inks.  The inks used were peacock feathers, salty ocean, wild honey, fired brick and walnut stain.  I went round the outside edge to create a vignette effect using ordinary black soot distress ink.

When the inks had dried, I spritzed the surface with water, and used a scrunched up piece of kitchen roll to dry the droplets.  I was really pleased with the way it came out!

I had some fairy stamps in my collection – unfortunately, I have lost the packaging so have no idea what make they are!  I stamped them in place using my Eureka 101 stamp press, because I wanted the silhouette to be solid, and it is easy to miss bits.  It’s so handy being able to stamp twice with confidence!

The last touches were a die cut sentiment (from Lynda Chapman’s last set!) and some gems which I added to the swirl in the bottom left hand corner.  Finally, I went over the fairy’s wings with wink of stella clear to add some sparkle.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 203 – Bling’s the Thing!

Happy New Year everyone!  Isn’t it mad that it is 2018 already??? It seems no time since we were all worrying about the year 2000…

Lin is hosting our first challenge of 2018, Bling’s The Thing. We would like to see lots of bling, ie, glitter, gems, or anything else that’s sparkly.

As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it meets the Bling’s The Thing theme.

For 2018 we have relaxed our rules a little and no longer have a limit of 15 entries into our challenge, but we still require a permanent link to our challenge post in your post – please don’t forget to do this, as if you don’t your entry won’t be considered.
GLITTER AND BLING
I used a My Craft Studio cd to create these lovelies having a good old gossip – originally they were both facing the same way, but I flipped the one in blue using Craft Artist Professional.
The base card is a 7 x 5 card, and onto that base I layered a mat of shiny art deco paper I had in my stash.  I printed out two copies of the topper sized to fit, and layered one copy onto the card.  I cut the second copy down to show the smaller topper only, and layered that onto some irridescent mirri card.  I attached that topper onto the base topper using foam pads to raise it slightly.
In the corners I used some self adhesive gems to add a bit of bling, and then for sparkle, I used a quicky glue pen to put some dots all over both dresses, and the jewellery.  I then sprinkled glamour dust over it all.  Sadly, the glitter hasn’t shown up that well in the photograph… #sad.
I haven’t put a specific sentiment on this one – but there is room to add a happy birthday or best wishes at the bottom or top.  I’ll decide what it should be when I want to use it, as that gives me some versatility.
Good luck with the challenge this time…!
