My card was made using an A5 tent fold card (from a pack I bought from Anna Marie Designs). I really like this unusual fold card -although the area is the same as a standard A5 card, it gives it that special twist.
I started by making my topper. The base square card was part of a free kit that I got as a member of the Create and Craft Club – it came with 2 stencils – this butterfly one, and a heart. I distressed the edge of it with some dusty concord distress ink and then went through the stencil using some Phill Martin cosmic shimmer sparkle texture paste (Decadent Bamboo). Leaving it aside to dry, I then found some complementary green paper that I embossed using a butterfly embossing folder, and cut to fit. Before I stuck it onto my card base, I wrapped some lace and ribbon from my stash around it at the bottom. It was a bit loose, but that got resolved when I stuck the sentiment on there!
When the texture paste on my topper was dry, I used some stick on pearls to put in each corner and to make the butterfly antenna. The topper was stuck onto the card base using 1mm foam pads. I stamped the sentiment onto a die cut oval and distressed the edge in the dusty concord ink. This was mounted onto a piece of the green embossed paper I had cut out using a couture die, and then both were put onto an oval die cut from rainbow card. The final touch was to stick the sentiment on over the ribbon and lace using foam pads and a dab of hot glue.
I haven’t played with my sparkle paste for a long time – I should use it more often!
