Marlene is hosting our Layer It Up challenge this week at Crafty Cardmakers, and she has asked for lots of layers please!!!
As usual you can enter anything you fancy, it doesn’t have to just be cards, as long as it meets the challenge, and doesn’t exceed the 15 total challenges entered rule!
My cards don’t normally have many layers on them – I tend to go more for the clean and simple style, so I thought I’d share this card, made at a class run by a stampin’ up teacher.
It has my usual favourite 6 x 6 base card., On a teal square of card, I layered a kraft card square and finally a square of patterned paper. Onto the right hand side of the last layer I added another rectangle of a different paper, and then did the same again with a third paper. I’m not sure what dies I used for the next parts as they were provided – but one was an oval with lacy loops and the other was circular. I attached the oval diecut over hanging the kraft square, and cut it off straight in line with the edge.
I attached the lace first and then added the ribbon across the centre of the card and wrapped them both round, then stuck the topper square onto the base card.
The image was stamped onto a circle of white card and coloured with promarkers and then stuck onto the circular die cut, and then the whole thing was stuck onto the card with sticky pads.
The poinsettia was cut out of red and green card and put together in the corner with some pearls in the centre. Lastly, I cut out three little message tabs, stamped a sentiment onto them and then attached it to the loop using string.
I like the card very much – but the layering is not something that comes easily to me even though it’s not hard to do.
